is a conscious reiteration of long-standing habits rooted in art-making, accumulation of materials, and an articulation of the aesthetic through process. The finite nature of the work itself, archival quality of its documentation, and persistence of habit offer a dialogue of temporality.

Though informed by the Earthworks movement, this project is not a commentary on the outside but rather on the internal. I have been arranging and building stick structures for years as an outlet for deeply ingrained patterns of activity. That is to say, this is performative work, not performance art.

I sought to document the individual elements of Semblance in a way that illustrated how their respective lifespans are ultimately bound by habit. I wanted to know what this experience could reveal to me about my own art-making tendencies.
